I joined Puratos in July 2025 but have worked in the food industry for around 2.5 years, and even longer if you include my early experience in the restaurant sector. Throughout this time, I have developed a strong understanding of food production environments, quality systems, and the importance of food safety and process discipline. At Puratos, I’ve built on this foundation by expanding my knowledge, especially around wet plant processes and more interactive operator training.
Restaurant and hospitality operations gave me a great start to my career where I learned discipline, teamwork, and customer focus. Before joining Puratos I gained experience and qualifications across multiple areas of food production including food safety, quality checks, internal audits, CCP, HACCP, and process documentation. I’ve enjoyed supporting teams operationally and helping newer staff learn skills on the line.
My experiences helped me build strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to explain complex tasks in simple, practical ways, all of which support my work as a trainer today. I understand both production pressure and people’s needs, which helps me bridge gaps and support teams effectively.
As a Trainer, my responsibilities go far beyond day-to-day training delivery. I have played a key part in building the entire training structure for Operations, including:
• Onboarding a large number of new starters and helping them understand our processes, culture, safety expectations and ways of working from day one.
• Developing the full training system and training matrix for the new wet plant — providing a structured, trackable path for competence and progression.
• Writing, updating and standardising operational documents, including procedures, work instructions, competency assessments and learning resources.
• Creating training materials and visual aids to improve consistency and build operator confidence.
• Supporting operators and team leaders daily to ensure correct practices aligned with safety, CCP requirements and production performance.
• Helping new employees integrate smoothly, feel supported and build confidence early on.
I love the fast pace, the problem solving, and the feeling that what we do genuinely matters. Food production is real, hands-on, and you see the results of your work every day. I especially enjoy helping people grow, watching someone go from learning a process to mastering it independently.
I also love the process, the complexity, and the way everything interconnects. The new plant brings new equipment, new learning opportunities, and the chance to shape training and standards from the very beginning. It’s been exciting to help build something from the ground up.
I’m genuinely excited to be moving into HR next; it’s a chance to focus even more on people, growth and creating a positive impact across the business.
