Puratos UK has launched Satin 20 - a new reduced sugar cake mix with 20% less sugar than the standard Satin Cake Mix, to make it easier for bakers to reduce the amount of sugar in recipes and to meet PHE sugar reduction targets.
With Mintel research revealing that 44% of UK cake consumers would be interested in a low sugar option, the mix also enables bakers to tap into the growing consumer interest in this area and demand for healthier treats.
Launched over 25 years ago, the Satin Cake mix is one of Puratos’ most iconic products. In line with the ever-increasing industry and consumer focus on sugar and Puratos’ ongoing commitment to health and wellbeing, the new launch offers customers the quality, versatility and great taste associated with the versatile and popular mix, but with a fifth less sugar.
Available in both Plain and Chocolate, the new Satin 20 is a tolerant and robust mix, producing consistently superior results. It can be used to create all styles of bakery products, including muffins, loaves and pancakes and delivers a moist cake with a short bite, which everyone will enjoy.
The mix contains only natural flavours for a clean label proposition and is quick and convenient to prepare; requiring the addition of just egg, oil and water. It is available direct from Puratos UK in 12.5 kg bags.
