Taylor Swift has officially broken the internet—and maybe a few breadboards along the way.

On August 14th, New Heights, the wildly popular podcast hosted by NFL stars Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce, hit a jaw-dropping 1.3 million views in its first hour on YouTube. That’s nearly double the views of President Trump’s headline-making appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience last October, which pulled in 800,000 views in its first hour.

According to ABC News, New Heights saw a 3000% increase in overall viewers and a 618% rise in female listeners. The reason? Bread. And of course…. Taylor Swift.

Taylor’s First Podcast Appearance: A Loaf Story

Taylor made her podcast debut on New Heights with a bold statement “I credit this podcast to getting myself a boyfriend,” she joked as she talked about Travis Kelce’s online admissions to wanting to meet her. But what she also brought was a deep, delicious obsession with sourdough. Her passion for baking has become a full-blown lifestyle—one she shares with the Kelce family and millions of listeners.

“I have a different baking obsession every six months,” Taylor confessed. “Right now, it’s sourdough. I’m talking about bread 60% of the time.” And she’s not alone. Travis Kelce himself has been requesting sourdough loaves to take to training camp. His favourite? A tangy, sweet blueberry lemon loaf - 2 flavours that our Taste Tomorrow research call out as being in the top 100 flavours in bakery and patisserie.

Taylor is even experimenting with funfetti sourdough, a colourful treat for Jasons four kids who love everything rainbow. Bang on trend with the classic 'school cake' and party flavours that are trending in store and online at the moment.

The Sourdough Eras: Bread as Tradition and Trend

Taylor’s love for sourdough isn’t just about flavour—it’s about history. “These are hobbies you could’ve done in the 1700s,” she said, highlighting the timeless tradition of breadmaking. From cinnamon swirl to cinnamon raisin hybrids, she’s constantly testing new flavours and techniques - don't these sound like the perfect autumal treat for your bakeries? Seasonality sells so well and this is the time to experiment with new flavour options and climb aboard the flavoured sourdough trend.

Her internet usage? Almost exclusively sourdough-related.

She’s a self-confessed member of the sourdough community

Bread + Kelces + Taylor Swift = Viral Gold

With over 18 million views (precisely 18,396,223 and counting), New Heights has turned sourdough into a cultural moment. It’s not just positive PR for bread—it’s a full-blown movement. Whether you’re a seasoned baker or just here for the laughs, one thing’s clear: sourdough is having its moment, and Swifties will be leading the way.
