Our Buckingham Centre of Excellence

This new 2750 sq.ft. facility brings together our fillings and sourdough production, previously based in Liverpool, with our longestablished powder blending operations that have been part of the Buckingham community for more than 30 years. The result is an integrated production site designed to deliver exceptional quality, consistency and innovation for our customers.

The new plant will also be BRCGS certified, recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) - reinforcing our commitment to the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Advanced Capabilities for the UK Market

Our new facility enhances and expands our UK production capabilities, enabling us to deliver even greater flexibility and responsiveness across the products we make, for example through seasonal limited time offers and industrial pack formats.

What we make: 

  • Fruit Fillings - high fruit ID pie fillings and compotes as well as super smooth bakery jams
  • Cream Fillings - including classic caramels, curds, custards and chocolate fillings
  • Sourdough - liquid living and stabilised sourdough for the manufacture of true sourdough breads or for naturally enhancing that flavour of any baked good.
  • Bakery and cake improvers and mixes - expert powder blending and allergen management

The site will also serve as a creative hub, where inspiration meets technical mastery. Customers will be able to cocreate recipes with our R&D team, supported by exclusive insights from Taste Tomorrow, Puratos’ global consumer trend programme.

Driving Sustainability and Supporting the Local Economy

Our investment in Buckingham is not only about technical excellence — it’s about building a more sustainable and resilient future for the UK food industry.

We are significantly reducing plastic usage across our fillings portfolio by transitioning from traditional ‘baginbucket’ formats to heatsealed buckets and pouches. This shift supports both our own sustainability commitments and our customers’ environmental goals.

The new facility is also designed to achieve BREEAM certification, supporting Puratos UK’s wider ESG ambition to become carbon neutral by 2030. BREEAM focuses on reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency, ensuring our operations are as responsible as they are innovative.

The expanded site will create 37 new jobs across production, warehousing, R&D and quality assurance — strengthening our longstanding role within the Buckingham community.
